    XinFin CTO, Karan Bharadwaj to speak today at 2nd Advanced Workshop on Blockchain: Technology, Applications, Challenges at IIT Bombay Mumbai, INDIA.

    Karan will present our XDC01 protocol and how underlying XDC tokens will be used for decentralized trade & financing.

    Blockchain technology is widely regarded as a revolutionary technology, and banking and financial industry is at the forefront of experimenting with this technology. The comprehension of this technology and its potential impact are still in primitive stages and rapidly evolving. Technology providers are prototyping varieties of platforms to suit varying application scenarios. The fragmentation of solutions and lack of standardization makes it difficult for organizations to evaluate and choose a suitable platform meeting their requirements. The objectives of this workshop include:

    • gain a deeper understanding of the basic concepts underlying the technology;
    • explore the most common applications being experimented;
    • learn the theoretical limits on the possibilities of blockchain;
    • comprehend the design patterns of applications and platforms such as the Bitcoin, Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric, Stellar, Ripple, NEM, Sawtooth Lake, et al.
    This workshop involves invited talks from reputed academicians and practitioners. Research works, positions papers, practical deployment considerations of the technology are welcome.


    Following topics forms the theme of this workshop:

    1. The Bitcoin blockchain is the best-known example application of the technology. The success of Bitcoin has inspired many more crypto-currency platforms so much so that some countries are contemplating government issued crypto-currency to reduce the amount of cash in circulation.
    2. Consensus is a key aspect of fault-tolerant distributed computing, which plays a big role on the efficiency of the system and needs to be chosen carefully.
    3. Smart contracts are executable programs that enforce the application logic and are responsible for state updates. Choosing a smart contract language, such that the result of the execution is deterministic, and has predictable execution times are critical for ensuring the consistency and progress of the system.
